| Adam i'll give you a game if you like. Do you fancy doing something different? I've had the idea (if no one else is playing 40K tomorrow night) to play on two sets of boards and only running tanks or similar (no troops).
It'd be like a ww2 tank battle which would be quite entertaining.
Alternatively Ron and I we going to run a 2K infantry only game, with only transports available for the game.
Or we could run another league game if you like and i'll bring either the marines or Mech?

| Hi Jamie
Happy to play against you if you are going to be there.
I had written a 2000 point list from the Kauyon book that I was going to run.
I am not sure if I have enough tanks for the tank game but can do the troops and transports only if you can expand on what is considered troops etc.
Happy to run whatever really.

| Adam, lets run against your pre-written 2K list then mate. I'll put together a 2K list (might include a little surprise or two) to make the evening interesting. Normal 40K? I'll keep it to marines and we can call this the rematch for the league if you like? | |

| Jamie, I like your tank battle idea, I'll have to have a look at my guard collection see how many points I can do and maybe play that next week if you're down?
Although an alternative to tanks only may be a toxic environment rule... any model that is not in a transport takes an ap- wound at the end of every player turn. Wounded models suffer a -2 penalty to their armour save to represent whatever bio suit they have being breached. That should encourage us both to plan a tank heavy list, but at the same time allows me to put chimeras in my list (about half the tracked vehicles I own are chimeras, and unlike Ork truks I can't take them independently as a Fast Attack choice...)

| Ginge, a Christmas Vehicle battle sounds like fun.
Rules (if you're happy) are:
Army Build (unbound): If you select a Super Heavy then is your command tank and counts as your warlord, for slay the warlord purposes. No unique characters No psykers any vehicles, elites, fast attack, heavy etc....... I promise i'll leave the titan at home as it is a bit OP.
Playing on a 8x6 table
All infantry must have a dedicated transport at the start of the game, and start in it. As soon as any infantry leaves the safe confines of the transport, each round they are exposed to the atmosphere they take a S4 Ap- hit.
The idea of the game is to pound the crap out of each other with uber guns, get some fun tank shocking and ramming in and see if we can re-enact the tank battles of WW2.
I've knocked together a reasonable list which comes in around 5000 pts (which doesn't include many troops at all) and with the pace i think we can rattle through we could possibly get that done in 4 hours.

| Mostly looks good to me... I still think an automatic wound would be better (despite my guardsmen having a poorer save) as I don't see the relevance of a thick skin to a toxic atmosphere... for instance, if I took Ogryns, they would be less likely to feel the effects in their armour (which generally consists of a string vest with spare tank tracks hanging off it) than your terminators in fully enclosed vacuum proof suits of the finest armour known to man... A simple automatic wound, well your breathing apparatus works on a 2+, whereas my Ogryn who has tied a football sock round his face, he has a 5+... I'll see how many points I can tally, chances are I'll have to use some troops in transports as I sold all my Baneblades (otherwise I could do the 5k in Superheavies alone ) If we get cracking early on I reckon we can get through it. | |

| I presume you don't HAVE to be unbound if you can manage to fit it into a CAD? I always prefer working that way anyway... | |

| Actually scratch that last question I haven't enough basic Battle Tanks any more to keep it bound, unbound shall have to do. A quick check of all my tracked vehicles get's me to 4695 without infantry, sentinals, or fast flyers, so 5k should be easy enough once I start adding some bodies to make those chimeras purchasable... probably drop the wyverns too, can't see much need for anti infantry mortars in a game like this | |

| Change of plans. I'm not coming down as I feel like crap and to top it off, my car radiator sprung a leak and seems to have turned the carpet into a swimming pool.... Just what you want before Xmas | |

| It's ok Rich, I'll be down with x-wing Jason will still get a game... And I've not written a list as such, I have merely listed models and their respective values to see if I could pass 5k I can so now I have a week to refine the list into something a bit more... user friendly. We using formations? | |

| I'm not using formations but i don't see why not. I'm happy with the auto wound bit as well. If we go with light terrain this should move quickly and be entertaining. I've got some crater's from a scenery bundle i bought of ebay. If we combine these with the ones the club have, we could place craters where all exploded vehicles are (which hopefully will be quite a few) and we could make movement more tactical.
Always up for a games with a cool variation like this, if anyone else has any ideas to play next year?
