For Clarification - due to Planetstrike being written before the rule of nothing on the table is auto lose, and with various reserve hindering options available (from warlord traits to advisors to wargear) and the planetstrike attacker HAVING to start in reserve, I have decided that for turn 1 the rule will not apply. It is easily possible for someone to be on a 5+ for their entire army, and if they get unlucky they could lose the game without deploying a model. With that in mind, the rule will not apply for turn 1 ONLY. By turn 2 they've had +1 to their reserves and two chances, they should have enough in by now to make it fair.

Furthermore

In Planetstrike Games you ARE allowed to assault from reserve. With the scenarios being designed for a time when assault from reserve was the norm, it just DOES NOT WORK for the attacker to NOT be able to assault. Basically you arrive, then get shot and assaulted. Given the attacker is supposed to have the initiative in these games it's kinda silly for them not to be able to assault from reserve.

The rule that only troops with the Deep Strike rule can assault from Deep Strike still stands. Being able to assault from reserve just makes the troops coming on from the drop zone actually have a purpose.

THIS SUNDAY, 24th March

Will be the end of turn finale in the crusade of fire campaign. Any and all participants should attend if possible, however it is another team game so if we have a player or two missing we can probably still manage.

The radioactive world of Sorren (that admittedly no one has fought a battle on yet) has a terrible legacy - a cataclysmic war was fought there in ancient times, leading to it's inhospitable nature today. The presence of the invaders on the surface has however triggered the last remaining ancient weapon, and it is now firing from a deep space station towards the planet. This is a planet killer - Sovven will be destroyed.

The signal that triggered the missile bombardment did reveal an ancient tunnel complex beneath the surface. The forces of order and disorder both have a chance to avert their fate - if they aren't too busy killing each other to attend to the urgent matter of the apocalypse.

Players

Players will be separated into teams and chaos will fight against Imperial as much as possible. I will bring an army in case we have an odd number but if I can avoid participating directly in order to manage the game better I will. Once on the shared battlefield each team will take a turn like in Voidspan.

Armies

1500 points per player, however read the full scenario as this WILL affect your army composition.

Gameturns

Will happen simultaneously. Once all players have played their turn then each team will take their turn on the shared battlefield. On the shared battlefield, turn order will be a roll off EACH turn. The fight subphase is NOT resolved until everyone has taken a turn.

Victory

Determined by whoever is in control of the objective at the centre of the tunnel complex.

Game Length

variable

Radioactive Hot Zone

This is played on Sovven therefore Get's Hot weapons overheat on a 1 or a 2

Access Hatches

In the centre of each surface battlefield there will be one access hatch. If a unit ends it's movement phase with at least one model within 1" of an access hatch, the unit may enter the bunker complex. Remove the unit from the table and place them next to the bunker complex (but not yet deployed)

Booby Traps

If a unit enters the bunker complex on a turn immediately after an enemy entered the complex, each model in the unit must take a dangerous terrain test as their foe has booby trapped the entrance

Labyrinthine Tunnels

At the start of a players turn in the bunker complex, they must randomly determine which board edge or tunnel entrance each of their units arrive on, and may move the unit on from that board edge or entrance as though coming on from reserve.

Close Confines

Weapons that use any blast marker or template to fire must re roll failed rolls To Wound, to represent their increased lethality in the close confines.

Victory - the player that is in control of the objective at the end of the game can divert the missile - input new co-ordinates and destroy a different planet immediately. It takes no further part in the campaign. The winning players team may try to influence his decision but at the end of the day, he is the one who puts in the co-ordinates, he can choose any planet he likes.

Zone Mortalis - the bunker complex uses the zone mortalis rules, which are a very minor variation on standard 40k - basically the shooting phases are switched round. So in the Chaos turn, the Chaos would move, the Imperials would shoot, the Chaos would assault. And then vice versa. Finally, all close combats would be resolved.

We will be making a mock up of a zone mortalis board using old space crusade boards. They are marginally smaller I believe, but is the best I can do under the circumstances. For those of you who haven't seen the space crusade boards, I would not recommend anything larger than a terminator sized base.

Any models that cannot fit through a doorway will be stuck - meaning if you get lucky a dread may find itself stuck in a long field of fire to provide support. If unlucky, you get a Death Company Dread that get's stuck in a door. So design your lists accordingly. Infantry will be a wise choice, with vehicles serving only to get you to the access point quickly, and possibly to delay your enemies pursuit down the tunnels.

Good luck, and see you all Sunday.

Sorry team Chaos, (and lucky team Imperial!) but I'm afraid I can't make it this Sunday. Crying or Very sad

I have a really fun and exciting insurance exam I need to prep and revise for....... the joy! Rolling Eyes This also means I'm not going to be down Monday.

Shame as it sounds like an interesting game and I was looking forward to blowing up a planet! If I get a break I might try and pop in to see how its going, but I've a lot to do.

Not sure if Jason will make his way down, so I'll ask him to post with his intention.

Right my basic plan, assuming the rest of the chaos team fail to show, is to have me bring traitor guard. Rich H and I will have 2k each. If each Imperial player can bring a 1k list AND a 1500 list i'd appreciate it. That way if chaos players show up they can play 1500 each as planned. If we have an imbalance then two imperials will team up against rich h, and two against me fighting for chaos. If Tom turns up we'll alter the plan on the day

Well that was pretty epic!

After surging into the dungeon complex Yarrick found himself at the control panel to prevent the impending attack... however he's a righty and his glove isn't exactly touch type friendly...

He did ask his squad to help, put Ogryns aren't the brightest bunch either...

Logan Grimnar and Mordrak came in to "help" but an argument ensued over the correct spelling of devastation. Grimnar seemed to be about to win the day and had set a new target of the daemon world Jakkarta...

But wait, Abaddon and Khan waded into the fight. Mordrak ran away, Grimnar was cut down. Abaddon looked at the console, and saw the target. The world that the changer of the ways had pretty much claimed as his own. The faintest flicker of a smile creased the corner of his lip - this is believed to be the first sign of mirth in Abaddon since Lucius got punched by Loken. He monitored the missile as it struck it's target, and blew the planet to kingdom come.

Sensing impending doom, some of the armies fled the carnage. The last world to emerge from the warp storm, another daemon world, has been claimed by the changer of the ways, with a small smattering of Orks. His plan all along? Perhaps he just fancied a change...

Well Abadon just wanted to let Chaos know hes still in charge and punish the codex writing gods for not making him immune to deamonhood or spawnhood. Kharn just wanted to smash as only Kharn can hence why he was sent down a different tunnel. Yarrik cleverly decided that his latest incarnation wasnt quite as hard for Abadon to squash and slipped away before Abadon questioned why the hell Yarrik was leading a rebel faction with a bloody Colonel.

I feel Abadon may be growing a bit too bif for his boots managing to manipulate Grimnar into helping him destroy a Daemon World. I fear he may have peaked too soon and brought too much attention to his Legions doings in this area.

Afraid not Jase, no one seemed to be ready for it so I didn't even bother asking for the room. I'll try to sort something out in a few weeks if the interest is still there...

PostSubject: Re: Crusade of Fire   Wed Apr 24, 2013 8:37 am

Ok, not everyone was in on Monday to tally up campaign scores and say where they wanted their territory points to go, but enough of us were in that I could come to the following conclusions.

With the Imperials on 58, and only 10 territory points from Rob to be decided between team and self, they had a maximum possible score of 68. This was dwarfed by the Orkish 135, and more so by the Chaos 167. The chaos team still had a potential 54 points that could have been added to that total. With only 30 points available to the winning apoc team, the Chaos team were clearly in the lead.

Which brings us to the chaos team. Rich H had a stonking 228 points. With Tom on 195 with a maximum of 22 he could add to his score for territory, he couldn't catch him. Destroying the daemon world and the 20 or so points a turn it was getting his personal score seems to have crippled Toms challenge. Rich F was on 110, with 32 territory points to be decided. So he too could not catch Rich H.

Meaning Rich H emerges from the campaign triumphant, regardless of the result of the apoc game we had planned.

With said apoc game liable to be a complicated affair, involving live objectives controlled by the referee, and various extra strategums depending on which team controlled which planets (which would have basically been, ALL chaos, not exactly the fairest fight to be honest) and only open to campaign players... and at the end of the day, meaningless anyway, I have decided to cancel the Apoc finale to the campaign. The interest just hasn't been there over the past few weeks anyway. Rich H has won regardless, so well done to all for taking part.

Instead...

We shall look to run an "open to all" apocalypse game, that is just for fun. Simple, static objectives. Kill the crap outta each other. Balanced sides (well, as close as possible in apoc) without a one sided campaign stacking the field. Rich H is going to speak to Dave about getting a suitable date for this, as I have just started a new job, and don't want to ask for the busiest day of the week off straight away. If I'm not working, I'll play. If I'm starting late or finishing early, I'll pop in. But the game itself will be run by Rich, and I will leave that to him. I am sure he will post something on the forum once he has a suitable date selected.

Thanks very much guys, if anyone wants to look over the Crusade of Fire book now I'm not trying to keep things secret from you, just let me know.
