Guys- bradders, jase, ginge and I have organised a trip to Warhammer world on saturday the 6th of April to play an apoc game all day. I thought I'd extend the invitation to anyone else who wants to go. You'll have to contact games workshop, book a table, organise your own opponents and sort your own lift there as I'll have full car but I'm happy for you to follow me and I'll show you how to get there.
You can go to the following link to review the tables they have http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?categoryId=2200008&aId=6900034a we've booked fort pain which will be an awesome table for an apoc game.

Or we could just converse about the rules on this forum (I guess this is what they're for). I suppose I'll open with the rules I'd be keen to play.
I want to run my imperial fist/iron knight chapter but with a few tweaks. I want to run elements of the pre-heresy rules along side my space codex. Am I ok to do this? (Promise I won't run a primarch)
I'm also keen to make sure we don't overload to game with too many characters as then the apoc game turns into a gladiatorial match between huge characters - maybe limiting the game to 1 hq choice per 1000 pts?
As we're running the game for the full day and plan to get their at opening time (10am till 10pm), how about running a 10k vs 10k game? Maybe Jason and I running imperials vs Paul and ginge running the tainted heretical chaos (Ginge you could run your imperial guard as heretics?). This would give us 5k in points to play with each?
I would say no limits on the apoc rules and all models must be at least base coated in the relevant colour to be on the table?
Anyone else got any input?

All - looks like I have space in the car if anyone's interested in coming. We're playing 5k points each. 2 vs 2.

Sorry Jamie I completely missed this post until now...

All sounds good so far, agreed on painted forces if we're gonna be on an epic table it's best to take cool looking armies. I can do traitor guard though I'll have to have a look - guard are my oldest and thus least well painted army - both in quality and in percentage painted. I can certainly rustle up plenty of armour, it's infantry where i'll start to struggle. I'm sure I'll come up with something though...

Mate, it's looking like Paul is going to be moving that weekend so we're going to need another player. Do you think anyone would be interested. If we can get everyone to chip in for the petrol (12.50 per person for a car load of 4 should be enough). Leave at around 7am should get us there for 10am. I do think we need an early start as I assume you're going to want a look around at the gallery etc....
Do you have Jason's email address (and yours). I'm stil on garden leave so thought I'd write up a background and some rules for the game. Figured as the table has a big eldar excavation e could theme something on that?

Priority level: Cyan Alpha
Transmitted: Iron knight battle barge, Keen blade.
To: Chapter Master Vladimir Pugh, Imperial Fists.
Date: 3,999,781 M41
Transmitter: Astropath Prime Ankacyte
Receiver: Astropath Termius Ralcos
Author: Chief Librarian Sturmagast, Iron Knights Chapter.
Thought for the day: We utilise the power of the warp only with the will of the emperor.
My lord Pugh,
As requested at the conclusion of the battle at fort Pain, I submit my report into the battle and what occurred until your arrival on the field of conflict.
Captain Lysander, command in full of the combined forces of Imperial Fists, Iron Knights and our guard allies set an outstanding defence Fort Pain and we held the Ork assault at the gates for the entire battle. Only once did they manage to create a breach into the walls and it was through the combined might of a number if your heroic commanders that we managed to stern that tide and finally bring the abomination, the war boss Ghazghkull Thraka, to his knees. It was for the glory of the Iron knights that I bested this beast in the most honourable conflict known, face to face with my force sword in my hand. It was unfortunate that during this conflict we lost Librarian Tarnus; I understand he was the 5th companies leading librarian, and on a personal note a fine representation of the imperial fists and a veteran I had looked up to for years. Unfortunately he was cut down by a vile contraption of ork design, a unorthodox walker that I belIeve the Orks refer to as a deff dread. After this great clanking monstrosity cut down the honourable chaplain Cassius and Librarian Tarnus, it fell to the joint efforts of Captain Stanis, commander of the 5th company of the Imperial fists and myself to remove this final affront to our stout defence of this essential battle line. It is with regret that captain Stanis fell during this battle, however, embroiled as I was in the battle, I did not see the killing blow. I’m am also concerned that during the battle with the Deff Dread his body must have been spirited away by the vile Green Skins as we could not find any trace of his whereabouts at the conclusion of the battle. We searched for the famous relic blade ‘imperial light’ however our search concluded empty handed.
Althought we did not secure the field of battle , we were able to make sure that the vile green skins did not breach the famous walls, and during the battle, the assistance from all three super heavy beahmonths; the fellblade ‘Dorns shadow’ and our guard allies StormLord ‘Shower of Wrath’ and the HellHammer ‘Heresy’s Bane’ were instrumental in bringing down a Stompa class giant walker and destroyed a baneblade size (I expect it was a stolen/scavenged Baneblade from a previous field of battle)super heavy tank.
With your timely arrival, we managed to bring down the final threat to our resourceful defence, the stompa which had reached the walls of the fort. On behalf of the iron knights chapter I would like to congratulate fleet Marshall Tannard of the imperial fists for the exceptional accuracy of his orbital bombardment which latterly shredded the final ork monstrosity. It was to the surprise of captain Lysander who had taken it upon himself to bring this contraption to it’s kness. After the bombardment from space, nothing stood within hundreds of feet from where the stompa had walked, apart from the dazed captain, his imperial terminator armour only slightly scorched. Again I must congratulate another member of the imperial fist contingency. Your armourer must do an exquisite job of upkeep in your 1st compaBies terminator armour as I was sure we had lost an imperial hero that day, however my initial assessment had not taken into account the stubbornness of the imperial fists and how much that was epitomised by your 1st company captain.
At the conslusion of the battle, we were able to collate all required information for the fort and extract it successfully. Althought we left the green skin holding the field of battle our mission was a success and the walls of fort pain held.
Please advise if you require more detailing regards to other elements of the battle.
Your brother in arms.
Cheif Librarian Sturmagast, iron knight chapter of our external father, emperor – may his light shine upon us all.

I believe Stermagast must have been watching Yes Minister, his hiding truths in other truths skill rivals Sir Humphrey Applebys.

There were still plenty of Orks at the wall that Sterm seems not to have noticed... the killa kans dread and battlewagon on the left, the nob bikers and deffkopta on the right, and 2 squads of nobs a looted wagon and a few surviving burnas and boyz in front of the gates. However you had proven your point that to advance past the main gate itself was a death sentence - nothing made it beyond that line, i'm just glad the objectives were in front of the gate line for the most part!

Brother strumagast was always known for his creativity! Next trip booked for the 8th of June. I've booked the Tau research station on Vorgis (see war hammer world for images). It's the same size as fort pain but with a lot more space.
